SBB Direct Train Option

Zurich is one of the airports in Europe that has a major train station as part of it's facility. The Rail station, which is a short indoor walk from the airport customs area is called Zürich Flughafen. There is a SBB Ticket office right at the airport in case you have any questions.
There is excellent service between Zürich Flughafen and Lucerne with direct train service 2 times per hour. The Train station in Lucerne is 2 blocks from our selected hotel.
Fly-Bus Airport Transfer Service

Fly-Bus or Flugbus operates shuttle service from Zurich and Basel airports to the foothills and Alps at a reasonable cost by road. If your destination is on the outskirts of Lucerne, this could very well be the best way to go depending on the location of your accommodation.

Selection and Payment
As per the recommendation above, we will be using the SBB direct train to get to Lucerne. We will also be utilizing the Swiss Travel Pass as that will be the best deal for the Swiss portion of the trip we are taking. I will show the the full cost of the pass here, but the full benefits of the pass will be listed in the surface transportation section as it will cover ferries and local transportation in our cities as well.
Purchase cost of a 1st Class Swiss Travel Pass that is good for 15 days is 810 CHF per person which is equivalent to $1,159.96 CAD per person. You have to declare the first day of travel in Switzerland when you purchase the pass. This pass will be good from Sep. 3 to Sep. 17 inclusive. The pass is only available to those outside of Switzerland and must be purchased before arrival in Switzerland. The pass is available for purchase up to 6 months before the time of travel.
